Understanding the underpensioned

Accord­ing to Age UK, 2.1 mil­lion pen­sion­ers in the UK are liv­ing in pover­ty. Eth­nic minori­ties in par­tic­u­lar are fac­ing a retire­ment fraught with finan­cial hard­ship: 33% of Asian or Asian British pen­sion­ers and 30% of Black or Black British pen­sion­ers are liv­ing in pover­ty, com­pared with only 16% of their white equiv­a­lents. Auto­mat­ic enrol­ment is help­ing to nar­row the gap for cer­tain groups, but many more are still falling through the cracks
