The rise of air cargo

The world’s largest car­go plane, the Antonov An-225 Mriya, was destroyed when Russ­ian troops stormed an air­port out­side Kyiv in Feb­ru­ary. Ukraine’s Pres­i­dent Zelen­sky has pledged to rebuild it, and far from dent­ing the pride of the air freight indus­try, it’s a sign of big­ger things to come. Indeed, the sup­ply chain dis­rup­tion brought by Covid-19 seems to have tipped the bal­ance in favour of the major car­go air­lines, as busi­ness­es seek to cir­cum­vent the prob­lems expe­ri­enced by sur­face trans­port networks.After all, send­ing goods by air is undoubt­ed­ly the fastest way to get them from A to B.
